this stage, the main sources disagree. Crawfurd reports a John who in
1539 married Christian Ross then his son Sir John married Isabel Montgomery.
Crawfurd
does not show a John as marrying Janet Kennedy and shows William of Glanderston
as son of the younger son of the John who married Isabel Montgomery. We
