| As the following comes from RootsWeb with no sources identified, we treat it with some caution and hope to find collaborative evidence in due course. It is noted that BLG1952 (Balfour of Balbirnie) suggests a different ancestry for earlier Balfours of Pitcullo but it is not clear that that contradicts this connection as the estate may have crossed branches through sale/purchase. [There are two other Balfours of Pitcullo in the database (although there is no reason to presume that they are related to this family as the estate may have passed through purchase): David, whose daughter Elizabeth married Patrick Scheves of Kemback (a 1592), and Patrick, whose daughter Grissell married Sir James Balfour, 1st Lord of Glenawley (who d 1634.)] | |||||||||||||||
