This page is still being researched. It has NOT yet been launched formally into the Database but is shown here TEMPORARILY (albeit for an uncertain length of time pending further research), partly to record connections that we fear we might otherwise lose sight of and partly in the hope that one or more visitors to the site will contribute information that will enable us to develop our information on the families covered in this page to a standard that would support release of a dedicated page in the Database.

We have had problems with the Dunstanvilles, having been led astray in the past by various web sites which appear to have confused different people of that name with each other. This may have been encouraged by the fact that one Reginald de Dunstanvile (d 1175) was an illegitimate son of King Henry II and so provides a direct( and therefore favoured) connection to Royalty. The following has been placed here pending more-focused research on both this family and the Bassets.
Hugh de Dunstanville
1. Reginald de Dunstanville (d 1124)
  m. Adelisa de Insula
  A. Reginald de Dunstanville
Omitted by some web sites but included by others, some of which identify him as the Reginald de Dunstanville who married Alice, dau of Reginald son of William, Earl of Warrenne & Surrey. However, although we are not convinced by the few dates we have seen for these generations, that would not be consistent with them.

  m. Emma de Langetot
  a. Alice de Dunstanville (d 1186)

  m. Thomas Basset (b c1099, d c1182)

References to the following family in some web sites use "Graeme" as the family name whilst Commoners, which mentions that the family is "presumed to be of Scottish origin", shows a coat of arms for the family which appears to be that of the early Grahams of Montrose (undifferenced!). However, Commoners shows the name of the family as Greame and this is supported by BLG1886 (Yarburgh of Heslington) & BP1934 (Deramore), both of which show Heslington passing through this family.
