This page is still being researched. It has NOT yet been launched formally into the Database but is shown here TEMPORARILY (albeit for an uncertain length of time pending further research), partly to record connections that we fear we might otherwise lose sight of and partly in the hope that one or more visitors to the site will contribute information that will enable us to develop our information on the families covered in this page to a standard that would support release of a dedicated page in the Database.

| The seat of this family was at Abermarles, Carmarthenshire. It is often shown as Albermarles or Albemarles, possibly confused with the place called Albemarle in Normandy which, possibly because of it being of some significance in Plantagenet times, was used in the title for the dukedom of the Moncks and the earldom of the Keppels. | |||||||||||||||
| Sir Thomas Jones of Abermarles (d 1604) | |||||||||||||||
| m. Jane Puleston (dau of Rowland Puleston of Carnarvon) | |||||||||||||||
| 1. | Sir Henry Jones of Abermarles (d by 1641) | ||||||||||||||

| A. | Sir Henry Jones, Bart of Abermarles, Sheriff of Carmarthenshire (d by 05.1644) | ||||||||||||||
| m1. Margaret Williams (dau of Sir Henry Williams of Gwernevet by Eleanor, dau of Eustace Whitney) | |||||||||||||||
| (1) TCB mentions only Margaret Williams as Henry's wife but BEB1841 mentions only Elizabeth Salisbury. Provisionally, we assume that Sir Henry married twice and, noting the rough date attributed to his marriage with Elizabeth Salisbury, we follow TCB in showing Margaret Williams as mother of his children. (2) TCB identifies the undermentiond Elizabeth as "2d. and yst. da. and eventually sole heir". Debrett's Peerage (1820, vol 1, Marquess Cornwallis) identifies Elizabeth as "sole daughter and heir". However, the Stepney records show 2 sisters as probably of this generation, both of whom had children. Provisionally, we show them all as children of this Sir Henry but hope to find confirmation or contradiction of this in due course. |
