Adam Cuninghame of Bedlan, 1st of Caprington
m. (c1425) ?? Wallace, heiress of Caprington (dau of Sir Duncan Wallace of Sundrum)
1. Adam Cuninghame, 2nd of Caprington (d 1497)
BLG1952 gives dates for this Adam as 1426-97 but it is not clear whether or not these were the dates of his birth & death or the period when he was laird. implying that his father either died in 1426 or handed over the estate to him at that time or that that was the year that he obtained Caprington through his mother, with his father being identified as the 1st laird 'de facto' rather than 'de jure'. 'History of the County of Ayr' (James Paterson, vol 1, 1847, p427), which follows the estate of Bedlan (Baidland) down this line for another 2 generations, omits this generation.

  (3) John Cunynghame of Brownhill (in Tarbolton) & Geis (in Caithness)
Henderson starts by reporting what was reported by Douglas but then points out various problems with Douglas's findings. Henderson does not identify John's 1st wife but notes that Douglas suggests that his son William married ## Janet Leslie, dau of Patrick, 1st Lord Lindores ##. Paterson does so also and identifies William, rather than his father John, as m2. Elizabeth Sinclair and father of Sir John, etc.. This appears to be the John for whom Paterson gives a different ancestry and different wives (## see here ##). BP1934 identifies Janet Leslie as John's 1st wife. We follow BLG1952 which shows as follows.

2. Thomas Cuningham of Langlane (a 1462)
Thomas is mentioned on 'History of the County of Ayr' (James Paterson, vol 2, 1852, p497 (in Appendix)). It is possible to interpret the reference there as indicating that he was a generation earlier, brother of Adam 1st rather than Adam 2nd of Caprington, but the dates imply that he was probably of this generation.
3. daughter probably of this generation
  m. John Fullarton of that ilk & Corsbie (d 1498)
