Denmylne identifies William as the 3rd son and reports that he "settled in Ireland, from whom are descended the family of Townley-Balfour of Townleyhall, in the county of Louth". This appears to be confusion with a William Balfour or his half-brother Charles Balfour whom we show elsewhere, BE1883 reports that this William married a Hamilton, "heiress of Glenawley, assumed her name, and one of their descendants was created Lord Glenawley". That appears to be further confusion with the just-mentioned William, half-brother of Charles. A full sister of that Charles was Susannah who married the Hamilton who became Lord Glenawly. | |||||||||||||||
