BLG1894 reports that ""The original name of this family," says Morant, "is supposed to have been Bampfylde," - a supposition borne out by the exact similarity of arms". BLG1894 identifies the arms as "Or, on a bend gu.  three mullets arg. quartering Aylett, Hammond, Egerton, Stanley, Clifford, Brandon, and Plantagenet."
