'History of the Camerons' (p47) names the 4th son as a 2nd John (minister of Dunoon), "from whom John, the famous Principal of the University of Glasgow, the Camerons of Worcester, and others". BLG1952 ('Cameron of Lochiel') names him Thomas "claimed as ancestor by the Camerons of Worcester". 'History of the Camerons' (p309) starts with John (minister of Dunoon & Kilmun), "said to have been a brother of Allan MacIan Duibh, sixteenth of Lochiel", and shows him as father of Principal John (b c1579), Archibald and Thomas of Glagow who is shown as father (by Margaret Boyd) of Thomas father (by Jean Macaulay) of John (minister of Kincardine). BLG1952 ('Cameron formerly in Worcester) starts with John "who claimed descent from Thomas, 4th son of Donald Cameron, and brother of Ewen, 14th of Lochiel"" and shows him as father, by Margaret Boyd, of Principal John (b 1579) & Archibald who was father of John (minister of Kincardine). We follow the last-mentioned source which we presume was based on additional research. | |||||||||||||||
