  (1) Archibald Campbell of Barbreck
HJHeraldry reports that Archibald "was deprived of his Estate by decree of the House of Lords in 1732, on attempting to sell some of the lands without consent of Argyll as "Feudal Superior". Barbreck was then transferred by Argyll to a Captain Archibald Campbell, a distant relation of the family, who sold it to Lieutentant-General John Campbell of Ballimore in 1768." HJHeraldry then continues with the following brothers, James & John, identifying them as "of Barbreck". The tale of the movement of Barbreck would suggest that they may not have been sons of this Archibald but the dates indicate that they may have been, with the "of Barbreck" indicating that they were tenants rather than owners of Barbreck. Provisionally, we assume that that was the case.

  m. _ Halyburton (dau of _ Halyburton of Pitcur)
  A. George Campbell of Kinochtree (a 1622, Burgess of Inverary)
