| BLG1886 reports that "The Hardcastles, of Laverton Hall, were an old and influential family in the parishes of Masham and Kirkby Malzeard, co. York, as well as in Nidderdale, where they held considerable landed estates". BLG1886 starts with mention of William Hardcastle of Laverton (a 1648, 1655) and then mentions his cousin Thomas (d 1678). We presume that this was the same William of Laverton who is the first mentioned by Hunter. We start with the unnamed grandfather of those cousins. | |||||||||||||||
