  TSP confirms that the 1st Earl was an illegitimate son of George, Captain of Blair Castle in Atholl, and reports that George was indeed identified "apparently on the authority of Macfarlane" with the above ancestry. However, TSP reports that "Macfarlane's account of (Captain George's) parentage, however, is very confused". 'LeslieRecords' identifies his wife as Sybil Stewart of Ballathan but BP1934 identifies her as Anne, dau of Stewart of Ballechin. We think that this was ...
