Families covered: MacMahon of Clondirrala, MacMahon (McMahon) of Limerick
| Mathgamain O'Brien, Prince of Corcobaskin (d 1129) | |||||||||||||||
| (1) Mathgamain is shown on the continuation (OBrien01) as son of Muirchertach (d 1119, brother of Diarmait/Dermot & Tadg) son of Toirrdelbach (Turlough) who d 1086. That is as reported by RoyalData'. We have yet to review OBrien01 using O'Hart who, on p187-8, reports that Turlogh Mor (d 1086) had 2 sons, Mathghabhuin & Dermon. We assume that Mathgamain was the same person as Mathghabhuin which would mean that O'Hart has omitted the generation of Muirchertach. We will review this in due course. (2) Note that the following is taken from 'Irish Pedigrees' (John O'Hart, 1892 (5th edition), vol 1, 'MacMahon (No. 1), Lords of Corca Baisgin, County Clare', p148+) from his chapter on 'Families descended from Heber' whereas the family shown on MacMahon1 is taken from 'Irish Pedigrees' (John O'Hart, 1892 (5th edition), vol 1, 'MacMahon (No. 1), Lords of Farney, County Monaghan', p550+) from his chapter on 'Families descended from Heremon'. (3) O'Hart (p149) shows Mathghabhuin as father of ... |

The following section was first launched on 29.05.09 as a section of a Temporary page. It was moved here after review led to acceptance that there was little chance of our making a significant improvement to it in the near future and that it was 'good enough' to be promoted into the main database. (2) We do not know how, if at all, the following family was connected to the one shown above or that shown on MacMahon1. |
