  m. Lillias Eastoun (dau of John Eastoun of Couston)
Mackenzie does not identify Alexander's wife whose name was found on Wikipedia ("Sir Alexander Munro"). Mackenzie then identifies Alexander's sons as George, 2nd of Bearcrofts (m. Margaret Bruce, heiress of Auchenbowie), and John, 1st of Auchenbowie (m. Jean Forbes). However, Wikipedia (on 20.09.17) showed the 1st son Major George (d c1760) as 1st of Auchinbowie and the 2nd son John (d 1737) as 2nd of Bearcrofts. In a note under George, Mackenzie states: "We are not at all clear about these marriages, and think there must have been another head of the house which is is here missed out." whilst Wikipedia, which refers to Mackenzie's work, also refers to a later work by John Alexander Innes (1911) called 'The Monros of Auchinbowie and Cognate Families' which we have not seen. We presume that Wikipedia correctly follows Innes's work and that, for Alexander's descendants, Innes's work is to be relied on more than Mackenzie's. Consequently, the following follows Wikipedia (in particular its article "Munro of Auchinbowie") although we take supplementary details from Mackenzie.
i. George Monro, 1st of Auchinbowie (Auchenbowie) (b 1666, d 1721, Major)
Mackenzie shows George m1. Margaret Bruce (mother of Alexander (dvp) & George) m2. Ann Stewart (mother of Robert, Albert, Hugh, Cecil, Margaret & Mary). Mackenzie appears to have not realised that Alexander did succeed this George and has also confused his (George's) son George with Alexander's son George.
