m. (24.01.1671-2) Dorothy Coffin (bur 22.03.1689-90, dau of Richard Coffin of Portledge)
Our main sources disagree on the next generation or so. Vivian (Pyne) shows that Edward & Dorothy had 2 sons: John ("a quo Pine Coffin") and Edward (m. Dorothy Spooner). Vivian (Coffin), further identitifed just below, shows that son John as 'of Eastdowne' (bur 21.02.17690 who was father (by Elizabeth, bur 23.02.1756) of John Pine-Coffin who m. Grace Rowe. Provisionally, we follow BLG1952 and so presume that Vivian mixed up different Johns.
  a. Edward Pine of East Down (b 26.09.1675, bur 08.01.1718-9)
  m. (29.09.1696) Dorothy Spooner (bur 26.04.1720, dau of Rev. John Spooner by Dorothy Pine) @@ below
  (1) John Pine of East Down (b 1708, d 1782)
Vivian (Pyne) shows a John, 2nd son after an Edward who d infant, as (bpt 05.02.1707-8, bur 16.03.1772) and father, by Hannah, of John (b 22.03.1735-6, a 1766). BLG1952 shows as follows.
  m. Amy Pepys (dau/heir of Roger Pepys of Impington)
  (A) John Pine of East Down, later Pine-Coffin of Portledge (b 1736, d 29.04.1824)
The following comes from BLG1952 (Pine-Coffin of Portledge) and Visitation (J.L. Vivian (1895), Devon, 1531+1564+1620+additions, Coffin of Porthledge). As noted above, Vivian disagrees with BLG1952 as to John's immediate ancestors. They agree as to his descendants. However, whilst BLG1952 mentions just one sibling (Robert), Vivian suggests that he had 2 siblings: Edward (but 02.08.1714) and Elizabeth (bur 07.01.1722-3). The apparent disparity between their dates and his dates is one of the reasons why we favour BLG1952 in respect of his immediate ancestors.
