The undermentioned Captain John Rutherfurd (a claimant to the title when the 4th Lord died) claimed descent from Richard Rutherfurd, alleged to have been a son of John Rutherfurd (at top of page), but (according to TSP) he was in fact descended from the following William "who may have been a son of John Rutherford of Hunthill", it not being clear to which John that was a reference. George Durie, the other claimant to the title, alleged that he was a natural son of Andrew Rutherfurd of the family of Edgerston. | |||||||||||||||
