(1) The family of Thomas is identified in DNB (1885-1800, vol 50, "William Ryder") as "descended from Sir William Ryther of Ryther". DNB provides the descent to Lord Mayor Sir William's children. (2) Regarding the Boughton Place line, BHO reports that "These Riders seem to be descended from those of Low Layton, in Essex, ... of which family was Sir William Rider, lord mayor of London". We speculate that the connection was as shown below. |
