It appears that only 2 mistresses & 1 bastard child were formally recognised, as shown below, but at least three other bastard children are often attributed to him: Thomas Stukeley (by Jane Pollard), Henry Carey (by Mary Boleyn, shown below as a recognised mistress, his sister may also have been Henry's) & John Perrott (by Mary Berkeley).

  'The History and Antiquities of the County of Northampton' (George Baker, vol 1, 1830, 'Owen of Welton', p458) shows Sir David as 'of Wotton' (Surrey) and reports that some insert another generation, showing David as son of a William. Baker names his 3 wives but shows all his children by Anne Devereux. We follow Griffith.

  We originally thought that this may have been the Rhys who was father of Griffith father of the Margaret who is identified in BLG1952 (Salusbury of Firgrove) as 2nd cousin of Edmund Tudor, Earl of Richmond (above). We now show Rhys-Griffith-Margaret elsewhere.
