  Paterson identifies John's younger brother as ancestor of the cadets "in Beith and Lochwinnoch parishes, viz.: Fulton of Threipwood, Fulton of Nethertrees, Fulton of Boydston, Fulton of Broomknowes, Fulton of Auchinbathie, Fulton of Park, Colonel Fulton of Hartfield." Paterson then appears to identify his four sons as follows.
  a. Thomas Fulton of Threipwood in Beith (a 1645)
  Paterson reports that Thomas had a great-grandson Umphra, the famous silk manufacturer, ancestor of the Fultons of Hartfield & Park. That Umphra was clearly the Humphrey shown below.
