Edmund O'Reilly of Kilnacroft, Chief, 'Prince of East Brefny' (d 04.1601)
(1) BLGI1912 reports that Edmund had "several children" including John (3rd son) and Turlough (youngest son). BIFR1976 shows 4 son, 2 unnamed then John & Turlough. Neither BLGI1912 nor BIFR1976 is clear which wife was mother of which child. O'Hara shows 3 sons by his 1st wife (Cahir, John, Terence) and 3 by Elizabeth, allocated as follows. (2) O'Hara identifiies Edmund's1st wife as "Mary Plunket, daughter of Lord Dunsany" but does not name the wife of his grandson Brian.) BLGI1912 (O'Reilly) identifies her as "a dau. of the noble house of Plunkett" and Brian's wife as Mary Plunkett". It seems that there was some confusion between those wives. What we show below is as suggested by BIFR1976. |

Edmund's 2nd wife is identified by O'Hart as "Elizabeth Nugebt, dau. of Thomas Lord Delvin" but Nugent02 shows no Lord Delvin of that name in that era. She is not named by BLGI1912 but is identified by BIFR1976 as Bridget, dau of 13th Baron Delvin. Provisionally, we identify her as ...
m2. Bridget (or Elizabeth) Nugent (dau of Richard, 13th Lord Delvin)

'Irish Pedigrees' (John O'Hart, 1892 (5th edition), vol 1, 'O'Reilly (No. 3), Of Heath House, Queen's County', p745+) shows this as the Myles who is shown by BLGI1912 & BIFR1976 as father of (Colonel) John O'Reilly of Conlyn, Garryocock& Ballymacad (see above). Apart from that, O'Hara supports what is shown above for that cadet family.
