(1) Identified by BEB1841 as "a Saxon living at the time of the Conquest, who was reinvested in his estate by the Norman" was the following Sir John.
(2) Frustratingly, many of the father-in-laws named by BEB1841 in the upper section of this page cannot readily be connected to the information we have at present on the relevant families. This does lead to some concern that at least some of the names have been reported wrongly by BEB1841.
