| This daughter is not identified in the main sources inasmuch as a connection to the house of Ranfurlie is not mentioned whilst connections to the houses of Castlemilk, Porterfield, Eldersley, Auchenames and Newark are. Under sources for Knox of Ranfurlie, this Uchter's wife is identified merely as "daughter of the laird of Craigends". Dates indicate this generation. This could be a second marriage of one of the above daughters. "Doig" identifies other daughters also who married Whitford of Whitford, ?? of Stanley, ? of Dairhome, Crawford of Crowfordland, Sir John Colquhoun of Luss but, although other names reported are certainly of this family, it is not clear if these ones are all of this family - except for Margaret who is cross-referred under BP1934 (Colquhoun). | |||||||||||||||

This refers to the web site developed by Dr. Suzanne Doig (www.geocities.com/Athens/Academy/4038) which includes, amongst other things, a full-blooded tracing of the ancestry of Dr. Doig's ancestress, Dorothy Cuninghame (daughter of William Cuninghame, 4th of Craigends). This site provides an excellent example of how even a relatively modest link to a landed family can provide connections to many of the famous names in history. [N.B. A check on 12.05.19 found that the geocities link no longer worked. This will be investigated further in due course.]
