Families covered: Dyve of Brampton, Dyve of Bromham, Dyve of Quinton

OWC reported that "It would appear that the family of Dive, or Dyve, Dyver, Dryve, and Dryver, or Driver, took their name form this town of Dives, in the department of Calvados, in Normandy. Benselin de Dive, is said to have arrived in England at the time of the conquest. This branch is reported as being descended from Hugh Dyve of Brampton (temp King John)." OWC's information started with the John Dyve who married Margaret de Quinton. Visitation starts with the following Henry with the Harleian editor adding a note indicating that he lived in the time of King Stephen (who r. 1135-1154) and another note reporting that one manuscript named him as Sir Richard, son of Allan de Dive who was brother of Simon & Robert. Note that this does not show a Hugh Dyve of Brampton (temp King John who r. 1199-1216) as ancestor of later members of the family.
