Families covered: Grosvenor of Budworth, Grosvenor of Eaton, Grosvenor of Hulme

The generations before Sir Robert, Sheriff of Cheshire who died in 1396, are taken from BP1999 (Westminster). Visitation starts with Gilbert le Grosvenator, identified as nepos (usually but sometimes apparently mistakenly interpreted as nephew) of Hugh Lupus, Count of Chester. Gilbert is shown as father of Robert, father of Henry, father of Radulphus (Ralph), father of Richard, father of Robert of Budworth. BP1999 clearly differs from Visitation as that last Robert of Budworth is shown by Visitation as married first to Emma Moberley and second to Alice (who m2. William Sketton), marriages which BP1999 shows as by Roberts of several generations apart.
