Sir John Ramsay of Trarinzean, Lord Bothwell (d Flodden 09.09.1513)
The parentage of this John Ramsay is unknown. One possibility, mentioned by TCP (Bothwell) amongst others, was John Ramsay of Corstoun by his wife Janet Napier but such has not been confirmed. He was a favourite of King James III but, following the assassination of that king, his title was forfeited by Parliament.
m1. (before 15.03.1504-5, div before 02.1507-8) Janet Kennedy (dau of John Kennedy, 2nd Lord)
m2. Isobel Livingston (d before 11.1552, dau of Livingston of Easter Wemyss)
1. William Ramsay (b before 1510)
  A. ?? Ramsay
Uncertain on number of intervening generations. BP1934 mentions Lord Bothwell (above) but, other than to confirm that he (David) was descended from him (Lord Bothwell), commences its pedigree with the David Ramsay (below) who married Margaret Ogilvie. The following 2 generations are speculative inasmuch as, although it seems certain that David & William were of this family, it is not known whether they were grandparent/parent of the David who married Margaret Ogilvie or some other connection (such as uncle).
