In his article on Southcote of Blyborough, Maddison mentions that Sir George (1st Bart) "left Blyborough, in case of failure of male issue, to his cousin Thomas Southcote of Buckland, co. Devon". Maddison's article on 'Southcote (alias Parker) of Blyborough' starts with the following George but we have difficulty in placing him in the above family tree. The dates indicate that he was a generation earlier than either Robert or Richard, Sir George's uncles. Sir George's 2nd cousin, Thomas of Mohun's Ottery (above), is a possibility, not least because of the marriage connections with the Fortescue family, but that Thomas's mother (Elizabeth Seamer) & wife were known but Maddison does not mention them. |
