BLG1858 identifies the following as "descended from a respectable family in Hampshire, of which county Sir Francis Douce served as high-sheriff 4th Charles II" (1652). Wikipedia ("High Sheriff of Hampshire') does not show such a Francis in/around that year but does showa Francis Douse as High Sheriff in 1628. We suspect that that was the same person as the Sir Francis Dowse of Browton & Nether Wallop shown above. This is supported by the fact that BLG1858 identifies the arms of this family as the same as the above family's.

  B. William Henry Douce
BLG1858 suggests that William had 1 daughter by his 1st marriage + 3 sons by the 2nd. These may have been just the surviving children as Berry suggests that he had the following family.
m1. Jane Downman (dau of Colonel _ Downman)
