BLG1858 identifies the following as "descended from a respectable family in Hampshire, of which county Sir Francis Douce served as high-sheriff 4th Charles II" (1652). Wikipedia ("High Sheriff of Hampshire') does not show such a Francis in/around that year but does showa Francis Douse as High Sheriff in 1628. We suspect that that was the same person as the Sir Francis Dowse of Browton & Nether Wallop shown above. This is supported by the fact that BLG1858 identifies the arms of this family as the same as the above family's. | |||||||||||||||
