| The FMG article for MS214 includes "The tradition is that (this family) came from Devonshire" having started with "The reader is desired to turn to Watson's 'History of Halifax', p. 247, where he will find a pedigree of Drake of which this is in several parts of it a copy. He will find some generations above John, which seem to be very loosely inserted; nor do I suppose that much credit is due to the early descents here given". At the end of MS214 (p510) is the following editorial note: "There is a much better pedigree of the Drake family tree further on, p. 522 MS (sb 523?). The early part here is incorrect, and probably Mr. Hunter obtained more information afterwards." A note to the first page of MS523 reads "The early part of this Pedigree is very different to the one on MS214 (page 505), and is more probably correct."
