BLG1952 reports that "The family of Gosset was included int he ranks of the nobility of Normandy before 1555. After that date, owing to their adoption of the Protestant faith, their name was removed from the roll. ... The immediate ancestor of the presnt line, Jean Gosset, a Hugeunot, settled in Jersey in 1685, after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes".
