BP1934 reports that "This family is descended from the ancient stock of Gilminscroft, Ayrshire". BLG1895 ('Farquhar') reports that the under-mentioned Sir Robert of Munzie was "younger son of the head of the Gilmanscroft family" and moves to his great great-grandson, Sir Walter (1st Bart), identifying him as 5th son of John of Lenturk & Wester Coul. However, BP1934 reports that Sir Robert dsp and shows that Sir Walter was descended from James of Lenturk, nephew or great-nephew of Sir Robert.
