  Nichols reports that the above-mentioned Humphrey Holden of Erdington & Great Shepey "devised the manor, &c. of Great Shepey to his kinsman, John Holden, of Old Swinford". We speculate that John was Humphrey's 2nd cousin, thinking that Nichols would have described him as "cousin" had he been his 1st cousin.
