William Talbot (a 1395)
1. | John Talbot of Salebury, Lancashire (d 1449)
m1. (div 1415) Margeria
Dugdale mentions only 1 wife for John, Isabel, dau/coheir of Sir Richard Mauleverer by Sybil, dau/heir of Sir Robert Clitheroe of Salebury (who m2. Sir William Haryngton). Whitaker showed that also but Lyons revised that to ...
m2. (before 1423) Isabella de Cliderow (d 01.08.1432, dau/heir of Richard de Cliderow son of Robert of Salebury)
A. | John Talbot of Salebury (b c1426, d before 1485)
## Both Whitaker & Dugdale show this John as married just once, to Joanna, dau of Sir John Radclyffe. However, Lyons appears to have revised this and reports that John had two wives, Johanna (who appears to have died by 1464) and Ann (d 1488), with it not being known which was mother of which children (other than Ann being mother of Lucy) and with it not being clear which wife was daughter of Sir John Radclyffe. BLG1952 (Radclyffe of Foxdenton and Hyde) suggests that it was Ann who was a Radclyffe. BLG1952 (Radclyffe of Foxdenton and Hyde) shows a Jane Trafford as married to a Sir John Talbot of Salesbury as her 3rd husband (but shows that her 1st husband died 1497 which indicates that she may have been a 2nd wife of this John's son). As the eldest son, Sir John, was knighted in 1483 he must have passed the age of majority by then so we presume that he was son of Johanna. The following tries to combine these views but may be revised in due course.

Dugdale & Whitaker show Anne Sherburne as dsp with Anne Banaster as mother of his childern but Lyons revised that to show Anne Sherburne as mother of John, Anne, Jane & Margaret. Noting that a book on the Sherburne family (used for the Sherburne page) also shows Anne Sherburne as dsp, we are left uncertain as to who was mother of ...
