  As is often the case with our (downloaded) copies of 'A History of Northumberland', our source is not clear on how some of the generations interconnect, with the connecting lines not being clear. We can often use dates to work out what to do but that does not always help. When we first uploaded this page we were puzzled as to whether some of the children of the next generation, now shown above as William's nephew (Edward) and nieces, were children of William or his brother Henry. Given that Mary has since been confirmed as Henry's daughter, we have moved them all under Henry and presume that the connecting line shown under William is merely to indicate that he had issue (without naming them) and that those other children (shown on a different page from the elder 2 sons) were indeed connected to Henry.
