  (a) John Clephane of Carslogie (d c1517)
m1. Elizabeth Wemyss (dau of Sir John Wemyss of that ilk)
  ((1)) George Clephane of Carslogie (d 1557)
  m. Christian Learmont (dau of Thomas Learmonth of Dairsie)
'Baronage' shows 4 children for George: James (heir, married Jean Arbuthnot, father of George), William, Margaret and Helen. The web site of the Arbuthnot family describes Jean Arbuthnot's husband as James of Hilcairney, "younger son" of George. This supports the following which has been reported by the genealogist Jack Blair.
  ((A)) Thomas Clephane (dvp c1547 Pinkie ?)
  m. (1540) Janet Wemyss (dau of David Wemyss of Wemyss)
  ((i)) George Clephane of Carslogie (b c1542, d 1583)
  m. Janet Forbes (dau of Sir George Forbes, 3rd of Rires)
  ((a)) George Clephane of Carslogie (d c1615)
  m. Katharine (or Helen, dau of David Orme of Mugdrum)
  (((1))) David Clephane of Carslogie
  m. Beatrix Barclay (dau of Sir David Barclay of Collairnie)
  (((2))) William Clephane
  (((3))) Anna (or Katherine) Clephane (d 10.1662) --
m. (mcrt 20.09.1598) James Makgill of Rankeillour (b 1576, d 20.04.1661) --
  (((4))) Helen Clephane
  m. James Ogilvy of Balfour
  (((5))) Elspet Clephane
  m. John Ogilvy of Balfour
The following Alexander is not mentioned by either 'Baronage' or Jack Blair but he is clearly identified in 'Living in St. Andrews' (see under 'Carstairs01') as of Carslogie with the family mentioned below.
((ii)) Alexander Clephane 'of Carslogie' assumed of this generation
  m. Catherine Carstairs (b c1550, d 1583, dau of William Carstairs)
  ((a)) Margaret Clephane
'Living in St. Andrews' suggests that this is the Margaret who married John Anstruther of that ilk (see ((D)) below).
  ((b)) Catharine Clephane (d 1609 plague) --
  m. (1567) John Martine (d 1608, Bailie of St Andrews) --
  ((B)) James Clephane of Hilcairney (d c1560)
  m. (mcrt 07.02.1557) Jean Arbuthnot (dau of Robert Arbuthnot, 14th of Arbuthnot)
m2. Margaret Oliphant (d 17.08.1580, dau of Laurence Oliphant, 3rd Lord)
TSP (Oliphant) reports that Margaret married "James Clephane of Hilcairnie, by whom she had three sons and three daughters". Margaret's first husband died in 1558. Unless they had sextuplets, which TSP would probably have mentioned (!), the dates make this look 'difficult' unless James's first wife died soon after their marriage, James & Margaret married soon after, and the 'about 1560' date for James's death is misleading and should be (say) 1565 or later.
((i))+ 3 sons and 3 daughters
  ((C)) Helen Clephane (b 01.04.1554, d 02.1607/8) step-mother of Jean who became her sister-in-law
  m1. (09.1553) Robert Arbuthnot, 14th of Arbuthnot (b c1508, d 15.10.1579)
m2. Alexander Campbell, Bishop of Brechin
  ((D)) Margaret Clephane
  m. John Anstruther of that ilk
((E))+ other issue - George, Robert (?), Catherine
  ((2)) Nicholas Clephane
'East Neuk of Fife' (Walter Wood, 1887, p154) reports that (a) John of Carslogie (also) married ...
m2. Isabel Strang (dau/coheir of Walter Strang of Pitcorthie)
  ((3)) Andrew Clephane in Pitcorthie (a 1575)
  m. Catherine Methven
  (b) Janet Clephane
  m. Andrew Kinninmont of that ilk
  (ii) Richard Clephane (a 1451)
  b. John de Clephane (d 1327)
  ii.+ other issue - Sir Mark (a 1314), William (a 1296)
