Families covered: Entwisle of Entwisle, Entwisle of Foxholes

VCH (Lancashire, vol 5, Enttwisle) reports "The Entwisle family can thus be traced back to the latter years of the 12th century, but in this case, as in others, no proper account can be given of it, owing to the lack of evidence". Commoners starts with the following Edward who was "head of the family in the early part of the 16th century".
Edward Entwisle of Entwisle Manor (d 08.07.1545)

Commoners (vol III, Chadwick) shows 2 Grace Chadwicks of consecutive generations as married to a Richard Entwisle of Foxholes, the earlier spouse being identified as son of Edmund of Levengreave, the later being identified as her cousin.
