BP1934 (Barclay) identifies the following Janet as "dau.of Hugh Montgomerie, of Stane, eld. son of Hon. William Montgomerie, of Stane" but we show Hugh as younger son of Arthur of Stane. Hence, we are not sure exactly how Janet fits into this family.

Neil's father-in-law is sometimes identified as Quintin Mure of Skeldon. However, under TSP (Cassilis), which identifies Margaret's mother as a daughter of the 1st Earl of Cassilis, he is referred to as 'of Aird' and it is noted that, after Neil's death, Margaret married John Kennedy of Skeldon. It is possible that John Kennedy obtained Skeldon from his father-in-law.
