John Wickham of Walden (Essex) & Enfield (Middlesex) (a temp Henry VIII who r. 1509-1547)
Visitation reports that John was "described in the Grant of Arms to his son, William Wickham, Bishop of Lincoln, by Robert cooke, Clarenceux, circa 1594, as "John Wickham of Walden in Essex, descended of Wickham of Swacliffe in com. Oxford". Noting that that wording suggests that John was not a son of a Wickham of Swalcliffe, if such a descent was the case then it seems that it was probably close, John possibly being a grandson of a Wickham of Swalcliffe.
