Nicholas reports that this family "is traced in the pedigrees to Brychan Brycheiniog, through Trahaearn ap Einion, Lord of Cwmmwd, near Talgarth, who lived in the 12th cent." BLG1858 reports that the undermentioned Rhydderch ap Rhys was "9th in direct descent from Trahaern ap Einion, Lord of Cwmwd, co. Brecon".
