(2) That John was son of Thomas ap Gruffydd ap Nicholas ap Philip ap Elidir Ddu is given by Griffith's Pedigrees ('Hafod y Wern', p275). |

However, the Stepney records show 2 sisters as probably of this generation, both of whom had children.
