Nicholas Knollys, '3rd Earl of Banbury' (b 03.01.1630/1, d 14.03.1673)
Nicholas, along with his elder brother (who dsp), was illegitimate. His mother was Elizabeth Howard who gave birth to him whilst she was married to William Knollys, 1st Earl of Banbury. His real father was Edward Vaux (as shown by the link above). He took the name Knollys and claimed the Earldom of Banbury, as did his successors. The matter was not finally resolved until 1813 when the House of Lords rejected the claim.

The following comes from BP1934 (Knowles of Lovell Hill) & TCB (vol 5, Knowles). Although BP1934 suggests that the following Charles was "said to have been the son of Charles, titular Earl of Banbury by his first marriage", it seems that, if he was a son of the '4th Earl', he was almost certainly illegitimate.
