(1) It is interesting to speculate that this family was somehow connected to that of the Lords Plaiz but we have no good reason to believe that to have been the case.
(2) Visitation spells the family name as 'Playse' until the end of the 16th century. Somewhat arbitrarily, we keep to 'Playse' for the top section but use 'Place" for the lower section.
