Families covered: Burrell of Broome Park, Burrell of Little Houghton, Burrell of Milfield
[This page was originally uploaded as Burrell2. it was renamed to allow a new Burrell2 to be prepared for earlier generations.]

Commoners reported that in early times the family name was spelled as Boraille, Borell & Burwell "but now generally Burrell". Commoners also noted that "It is difficult, at this distance of time, to trace the connection between the family of Broomepark and that of Lord Willoughby de Eresby, (whose surname is Burrell), and Sir Charles Burrell, but that they are of the same lineage there can be little doubt." We note that BLG1952 does not identify any arms for the family but Commoners & Hodgson identify them as "Or, a saltire gules, between four leaves vert, on a chief azure, a lion's head erased, between two battle axes proper" which appears to support the following connection.
