Families covered: Penrice (Penrys or Penris) of Penrice, Penrice of (Great) Yarmouth

(1) Commoners, used for the lower section below, mentions "an ancient family ..., in Worcestershire, of which was Sir John Penrice, of Penrice Castle, in the county of Glamorgan, whose heiress espousing Sir Hugh Mansel, knt, conveyed the estate of Penrice to that house". That indicates that the following family, which ends in 2 coheirs one of whom married Hugh Mansell, was of Penrice Castle, something that is not specified by either the Visitation or Berry but is supported by the cross-reference from Mansell. We hope to find more on this family in due course.
(2) The arms shown for Penrys by Visitation (quartered with others) is not described but appears, using the description given by Commoners below, to be "Party per pale indented arg. and gules".
