Families covered: Prideaux of Luson, Prideaux of Orcharton

Commoners provides 2 articles relevant to this family: Prideaux-Brune of Place (in volume 1) and Prideaux of Luson (in volume 4). In the first article, Commoners reports on how the Orcharton branch connected to the senior line of Prideaux of Prideaux (through the undermentioned Hickadon) and then follows the line of Adeston. In the second article, Commoners reports that the Prideaux of Luson descended from a Prideaux of Orcharton. The first section of this page is in 2 parts. The first part shows the alleged ancestry of the Prideaux of Orcharton as reported by Commoners (volume 1) but, as we do not support it (some of the reported marriages are highly suspect!), we show that in italics. The second part (of the first/upper section) shows what Vivian reports.

Commoners identifies John as ancestor of the Robert Prideaux of Orcharton who, by the daughter of Champernowe, was father of Thomas who was father of John of Luson. See ##2## below.

Sir Robert Prideaux, last of Orcharton (b c1550, a 1603) - continued above
Vivian ends with Sir Robert, identifying his wife as Grace. As reported at ##2## above, Commoners (vol IV, Prideaux of Luson) starts the line of Luson with Thomas, identified as 2nd son of a Robert Prideaux of Orcharton by the daughter of Champernowne. Noting that the dates are not inconsistent with the presumption, we presume that Sir Robert & Grace were the same people as Robert & _ Champernowne. HOWEVER, to our knowledge this has not been proved and so it should be viewed as speculative.
