Thomas Ryther of Lynstead, Kent
(1) The family of Thomas is identified in DNB (1885-1800, vol 50, "William Ryder") as "descended from Sir William Ryther of Ryther". DNB provides the descent to Lord Mayor Sir William's children.
(2) Regarding the Boughton Place line, BHO reports that "These Riders seem to be descended from those of Low Layton, in Essex, ... of which family was Sir William Rider, lord mayor of London". We speculate that the connection was as shown below.
1. Thomas Ryther or Ryder of Mucklestone, Staffordshire
m. _ Poole of Staffordshire
  A. Edward Ryder or Rither of Leyton, Essex (d 16096)
  B. Sir William Ryder or Rider or Rither 'of the Mote, Kent', later of Leyton, Lord Mayor of London (b c1544, d 30.08.1611)
  m. Elizabeth Stone (dau of Richard Stone of Holme)

Uncertain on number of intervening generations.
  i. ?? Ryder or Rider
  a. Thomas Rider
  m. Philadelphia Barnham (dau of Sir Robert Barnham)
  (1) Sir Barnham Rider (d 1728)
Some details of Barnham's family come from CountyGen (Kent, Berry, p395).
  m. (1717) _ Littleton (dau of Admiral _ Littleton)
  (A) Sir Thomas Rider of Boughton Place (d unm 1786)
(B) Elizabeth Rider
Berry shows that Elizabeth m. Sir Nathaniel Powel, Bart. However, that appears to be wrong. It is noted that Sir Nathaniel Powell, 2nd Bart of Ewhurst, married an Elizabeth Barnham, aunt of the above Philadelphia. The dates confirm that his wife was probably a few generations earlier than this Elizabeth.
  (C) daughter
  (2) ?? Rider
BHO reports that the above Sir Thomas was succeeded by his first cousin ...
  (A) Ingram Rider of Boughton Place (a 1798)
  (i) Thomas Rider of Boughton Place (dsp) possibly fits here
