(1) We are surprised that we have not been able to find more on how the various branches of this family interconnect given that it appears that those which have coats of arms have differenced their arms in ways which imply acceptance of a common root. For the Essex family reported by Berry, the arms are shown as "Or, three roses proper". The other arms, where given, either have three roses in chief (with differerences being in the main body of the arms and/or the colours - used by the East Anglian branches shown below) or have three roses in the main body of the arms (with differerences being in chief and/or the colours - used by the Staffordshire branches shown on Sparrow03). (2) Berry's Essex Pedigrees (1878, 'Sparrow') starts with ... |

Berry then jumps to the undermentioned Thomas of Bocking (who "lived to a great age", will dated 08.11.1595, with a line between them. We would normally take that to mean that Thomas was thought to have descended from Robert but with no proof to confirm that. However, BLG1886 (Sparrow-Beridge of Gosfield Place) mentions that William Sparrow of Sible Hedingham was "6th in descent from William Sparrow of West Harling, Norfolk, temp Edward III). Berry shows that William as 3rd in descent from the undermentioned Thomas. This would suggest that Thomas was son of this Robert. We suspect that the entry in BLG1886 was somewhat presumptuous but nevertheless make a connection between Robert and Thomas albeit presuming that there was at least one generation between them. | |||||||||||||||
