We originally developed this page using the "Doig" site identified on Cunningham03. However, that web site appears to have disappeared (or at least been moved). As a review on 19.05.20 using Paterson proved to be unsatisfactory, such that we left the tree as previously shown and simply made note of the information provided by Paterson, we will review this page again in due course.

There is some confusion on the relationship with the family of Langlando. According to "Doig", their son William (3rd of Cuninghamhead) may also have married a daughter of that family. Doig also shows Andrew, second son of William (2nd of Cuninghamhead) as being "of Langlando".

  Paterson jumps from William, father of the Robert we show as 1st of Cuninghamhead, to this Robert (a 1508), shows as married to Margaret, dau of William, "the last of the Mures of Polkelly".

Paterson identifies William's wife as Martha, dau of Sir John Chalmers of Gadgirth by Marion Hay, niece of Lord Yester. He then shows William as succeeded by Robert, probably his son, and notes that Robert married his cousin Margaret, dau of James Chalmers of Gadgirth. Paterson reports that Robert was succeeded by Sir William (a 1555, no wife named), father or possibly elder brother of ...
