Families covered: Fox of Ballagh, Fox of Foxbrooke, Fox of Fox Hall, Fox ("The Fox") of Kilcoursey

BIFR1976 reports that "The name of this family, which is said to descend from Maine, King of Teffia, son of Nial of the Nine Hostages ... is derived from Teige, Chief of his Sept, who was surnamed Sionnach, the Irish for Fox. From him the family was subsequently styled Sionnach, later translated to the English form of Fox, the Chief or Head being designated "The Fox"." Our pedigree commences with the father, name unknown, of Hubert and Art.
