Families covered: Hesketh of Aughton, Hesketh of Hesketh, Hesketh of Poolton, Hesketh of Rufford

There is some contradiction between sources with the early generations of this family. Visitation (Flower, Lancashire, 1567, 'Hesketh of Rufford') starts with Sir William Heskethe father of Thomas of Rufford father (by _dau of Massy of Rixton) of Robert father (by Grace Phyton of Fawseworthe) of Thomas of Rufford and also Richard, William (Bishop of Man), daughter (m. Richard Awghton of the Myles) & daughter (m. Sir Henry Kyghley of Ingkippe) with Thomas of Rufford being father by Grace (dau of Sir John Towneley of Towneley) of William (dsp) and father by Alice (dau of Christopher Haworthe) of Sir Robert (m. Grace, dau of Sir John Towneley of Towneley), Charles (3rd son) & Helene (m. Laurence Towneley of Barnshed). Foster shows 2 more generations but they are not disputed.
