BEB1841 (Hewet of Headly Hall) reports that William had, with his heir John, 3 younger sons "Solomon, Thomas, and William; from the three last sprung the families of Hewet, of Pishobury, Herts, the Hewets, of Shire Oakes, Notts, and the Hewets, of Stretton, in Leicestershire."

The following has been compiled from VCH (Leicestershire, vol 5, Great Glen) and is subject to review. VCH reports that the parish of Great Glen comprises 2 townnships, Great Glen and Great Stretton. It appears that the Hewett family owned land in both townships and that some were known as 'of Great Glen' whilst others were known as 'of Great Stretton' or 'of Stretton'. The first Hewet mentioned by VCH is the following William who we presume was son of the above William.
