Families covered: Bradshaw of Bradshaw, Bradshaigh of Haigh
[See the note at the top of Bradshaw02. The review referred to there made no significant difference to this page except to show contradicting ancestries for the family shown on Bradshaw02.]

(1) Identified by BEB1841 as "a Saxon living at the time of the Conquest, who was reinvested in his estate by the Norman" was the following Sir John.
(2) Frustratingly, many of the father-in-laws named by BEB1841 in the upper section of this page cannot readily be connected to the information we have at present on the relevant families. This does lead to concern as to the reliability of these early generations.

VCH (Lancashire, vol 3, 'Townships - Westleigh') mentions a Roger de Bradshagh who gave lands at Westleigh to his son John c1250 and identifies other sons as William (m. Mabel la Norrise, heiress of Haigh & Blackrod - see above) & Adam (perhaps ancestor of the Bradshaghs of Aspull). We suspect that Roger fits in this family but have yet to prove the connection. See here for a possible descendant of John of Westleigh.
